Shiri Appleby and Fiancé Jon Shook Welcome Baby Girl

Actress Shiri Appleby is a mom. The "Roswell" actress gave birth to a baby girl Saturday, March 23.

This is the first child of the TV star with her fiancé, chef Jon Shook. The couple is over the moon with their new status as parents.

"She's heaven," Appleby told Us Weekly, while referring to her newborn. "I'm beyond thrilled."

Appleby got engaged to her boyfriend of two years, Shook, in July 2012. The couple confirmed pregnancy in December 2012. In January, the mom-to-be celebrated her baby shower with close friends at Shook's Animal restaurant in Los Angeles. The couple had kept the gender of their baby a surprise until the end.

"It's really made the whole pregnancy a heightened excitement because you just don't know what it's going to be," the actress told Us Weekly, after confirming the pregnancy.

Apart from that, the couple also unanimously decided not to design a color-themed nursery for their little one.

"We got a chandelier, we got a rug and we're looking for drapes. . .We don't want it to look too much like a baby's room," Appleby explained to Us Weekly. "We're both on the same page about how we want it to look."

Appleby, who started acting at the age of 4, has appeared in "Cheerios" and "M&M" advertisements. Television series and films aside, she has also acted in music videos.

The actress, who appeared in HBO's "Girls" as a guest star, had earlier expressed her wish to experience the challenges of a working mom.

"I would definitely like to go back to work. [Laughs] The great thing about our job as actors is that you have beautiful trailers and lots of down time, and you can always bring a baby to work. And I just think it's a really great example to show a kid, of a woman - of a mother - working," Appleby told Wetpaint in March.
