British Woman gives Birth to 15 Pound Baby Vaginally

Women often struggle to give birth naturally, even when the baby has normal weight. A British woman has become a wonder to the whole world by giving birth to a baby weighing 15 pounds and 7 ounces, vaginally.

According to the reports, the 21-year-old mother, Jade King, went through labor for long 16 hours before naturally giving birth to her first baby, George King, last month at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in Gloucester, England.

"He's a little miracle," New York Daily News quoted Jade, telling BBC News. "Well, big miracle, really."

Both the doctors and the proud parents, Ryan and Jade, were unaware about the baby's big size until he came out. As little George struggled to breath normally after his birth, doctors had very little hope of his survival.

"When his head was out, that's when they realized he's so big," Jade said, according to New York Daily News. "And then his shoulders got stuck, and that's when everything sort of kicked off, really. There was about 20-odd doctors in the room, and that's when it got really scary."

Now, he is six-weeks-old, fit and fine like any other newborn baby. The only difference is that, unlike other newborns, he fits only into clothes meant for babies aged between three and six months.

Doctors are still trying to fix the puzzle about his unusual weight, as both Jade (6 pounds) and Ryan (9 pounds) had normal weight at birth.

Being born extremely overweight is not a new phenomenon, these days. In 2009, an Indonesian couple, Hananuddin and Ani welcomed a 19.2 pounds baby named Muhammad Akbar Risuddin.  In 2011, a Texas woman gave birth to a baby boy, JaMichael, who weighed 16 pounds at birth.

As per the Guinness Book of World Records, a baby weighing 23 pounds and 12 ounces, born in Ohio in 1982, is the largest baby in the world. However, the baby survived only 11 hours.

According to the records, the largest baby born to a healthy mother that survived was born in Italy in 1955 and weighed 22 pounds and 8 ounces at birth.
