Children Services Observe Increase In Drug Related Foster Cases

Athens Country Children Services have stated that the figure of children who have come to their care and attention with some relation to being affected by drugs has surprisingly gone up.

According to The Athens Messenger, Cathy Hill, the executive director of the organization says that the numbers have gone very high in cases of child abuse and drugs. The rate may be increasing in the state but in Athens, it's no less and is going up, not only in adults but also in children. This presents a cause of great concern which has to be dealt with urgently.

According to Athens size, 70 or 80 children should be in custody but they are 112. Which is colossal because Athens is not a large country. Hill states that efforts are being made in order to reduce the amount and stop parental drug abuse.

Stats and figures of Public Children services association show that in Ohio, there has been an increase of 6.7% in last year or half. As a whole, it's a 19% increase since 2009. Cathy Hill says newborn babies who
haven't even left the hospital, come in care. The addict children will stay longer under supervision because addiction is a big issue and overcome it, it takes time.

The need of new foster parents is also increasing according to NCBI. They are being trained in such a way that they can handle difficult situations. Cathy says that they want families happy but as soon as it's not safe, and it's important to bring them into the foster care they have to do so.

When the treatments are done and the children are ready to go back to their homes, they are sent. Hill says that the community needs to come together to overcome this problem and that they have volunteers from the community as well who help the organization.
