Forget The Address: Uber Lets You Use Your Friends As Locations; Snapchat, Other Apps Now Integrated!

Sometimes letting your Uber driver find where friends or family members are waiting for you can be a headache, even after you have given an address and directions. Now it doesn't have to be a problem: Uber is updating its app to make people your destination, allowing your friends to share with you, their exact location, which your Uber driver can just follow.

To do this, you have to sync your phone's contacts with the Uber app, Uber said in an article online. You can then type a person's name in the app's "Where to?" box, after which they will get a request to send their current location.

Once the person accepts the request, their location will then be used as your destination. Uber will also send the person waiting at the destination your expected time of arrival while you're on your way. Of course, your friends or family need to have the Uber app for this new function to work.

According to Engadget, this sets Uber apart from ordinary taxis because it makes you no longer limited to giving a driver locations that are easy to find. This is also an important feature for the self-driving cars that Uber is currently testing, since automated vehicles would need precise locations and not be able to improvise on drop-off points.

That's not all. The ride-sharing service has also integrated its mobile app with Snapchat, allowing you to use custom Uber filters while you're on a ride. If you're a Snapchat user, you can use the filters when taking a selfie to tell your friends or family what time you'll get to where they are.

The updated Uber app will also be integrated with other apps like Yelp, where users can access food reviews when they're heading to a restaurant, the Daily Mail reports. The Uber app is also now connected to UberEats for ordering food and to Pandora for listening to music.

"Gone are the days of toggling between apps," Uber said in a statement. "And now, you can have a little extra fun getting to that someone!"
