'Supergirl' Star Melissa Benoist And Husband Blake Jenner Call It Quits, Actress Files For Divorce From Former 'Glee' Co-Star

Melissa Benoist, the lead actress in the series "Supergirl," and her husband, her former "Glee" co-star, Blake Jenner, have called it quits as they have ended their marriage. The actress filed for divorce last week.

The 28-year-old reportedly filed the divorce papers last Friday, which was just two days before Christmas Day. Benoist then cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce.

The two have been married since March 2015 after getting engaged in 2013. 28-year-old Jenner and 24-year-old Benoist had a secret marriage. The two actors have been dating for more than a year before the engagement came in 2013. They met in 2012 after being co-stars on "Glee," AOL reported.

Benoist played Marley on "Glee" while Jenner played Ryder on the FOX comedy-musical show. Jenner also appeared on "Supergirl," which airs on The CW, for two episodes. The two have no children together, Huffington Post reported.

Benoist was recently asked about acting together and she noted that she and Jenner have fun because he is the person to act with. She noted, "He's my favorite scene partner, always."

According to the other reports, Benoist is seeking to change her legal name back to her maiden name. She is also asking the court to block any spousal report from either of the parties. It was not stated when exactly did the couple break-up and when they decided to file for a divorce.

A day after Christmas, Jenner took to Twitter to post a video of him playing with his nephew. He did not show any emotion or any sign that he and Benoist have decided to end their marriage. In the video, the nephew of Jenner was seen playfully hurting the actor while he writhed in pain.

The two are yet to release a statement confirming the divorce report and the reason for the split. It was not reported where Benoist spent the Holidays after splitting from Jenner.
