Square Enix Focuses On Original IPs And Celebrates 30 Years Of ‘Final Fantasy’

Square Enix has always been one of the major influencer and innovators when it comes to RPGs, Tactics and complex storylines. Creating some of the most celebrated titles in gaming history like the "Dragon Quest" series which turned 30 in 2016, "Kingdom Hearts" which put some of Disney's famous characters into action, "Star Ocean" which is an intergalactic tale of love and the epic "Final Fantasy" series.

The CEO and President of Square Enix, Yosuke Matsuda, expressed his appreciation and the opportunities presented by the previous year through an open letter. The letter contained the company's plans for 2017, through the new tech introduced in 2016, calling it "2016: A Year of technological innovation." Mr. Matsuda shared his thoughts on the mobile gaming industry, the Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality stating that "Such technological advancements represent major opportunities for our Group to generate richer entertainment contents."

The year 2017 will also mark the 30-year anniversary of the "Final Fantasy" franchise. This milestone will be celebrated with a variety of events planned for the entire year. The release of the "Final Fantasy VII remake" could be a part of this celebration.

The remake of the installment which made the "Final Fantasy" title a household name for RPG's has been teased since 2015. The possibility of "Final Fantasy VII Remake's" release is big possibility, based on article by GamesRadar.

Without the innovation of Square Enix, the term 100 hours of gameplay would have never been created. The production of video games that are way ahead of their time in terms of graphics, gameplay and storyline has always been a part of the company's vision.
