Showtime Bosses Reveals Details And Release Date For 'Twin Peaks' Revival ; Two-Hour Premiere Will Be On May 21

"Twin Peaks" has just been revived and Showtime recently revealed when it will be premiering. The Showtime bosses said that fans of the series should expect to see it on the network by May 21.

Nerdist reported that the president of Showtime, David Nevins, announced during the Television Critic Association 2017 winter press tour that a two-hour premiere of "Twin Peaks" will be on May 21 at 9 P.M. He also revealed that the third and fourth season of the revived show will be watchable at the streaming and on-demand platforms of Showtime on the same evening.

The 2017 season of the series will be having 18 hours in total but there have been no details regarding what to expect in the upcoming episodes of the show. Nevins did say, however, that he thinks the new version of "Twin Peaks" that fans will see is the pure heroin version of David Lynch, the creator of the series. Nevins also teased, "It will really reward close watching and making sure you're paying attention to close details," The Hollywood Reporter shared.

There was some bad news, however, as Nevins said that the 2017 season of "Twin Peaks" does not necessarily mean that there will be more seasons to follow. He said that it will be a closed-ended and one-time franchise. Nevins noted that they have no idea regarding the ratings and it will be difficult to determine whether the project is a success or not. Showtime's president of programming, Gary Levine, also said that the fact that they are presenting the return of "Twin Peaks" having Lynch direct it is already a success for them and the network.

Little is known about the plot of the new "Twin Peaks" season. What do you think about the statements of the Showtime bosses? Are you excited for the two-hour premiere this May 21? Let us know what you think will fans see in the premiere. Comment below!
