Is This The Galaxy S8? Leaked Image Claims To Be Samsung’s Upcoming Phone

A leaked image of what many believe to be Samsung's upcoming smartphone, the Galaxy S8, is making the rounds of social media and getting many fans excited. One photo that appeared on Twitter and on the Chinese social networking site Weibo shows a gold, shiny phone with no home button as rumored.

Forbes reports that the image of the Samsung Galaxy S8 is consistent with the design of the Galaxy S7. It also has features that have been the subject of reports and rumors before, such as a slimmer top and bottom bezels.

As mentioned, the Samsung Galaxy S8 is likely to have no home button because a fingerprint sensor will be built into the screen, and the leaked image shows precisely that. The Galaxy S8's display will reportedly be 5.7 inches in size, while the Galaxy S8 Edge's will be 6.2 inches.

Samsung has yet to reveal specific details about the Galaxy S8, including how it will look, and so tech sites like Alphr are advising the public to take leaked images with a grain of salt. Forbes believes, however, that the images would closely resemble the smartphone that Samsung will soon unveil.

After a challenging and controversial 2016 for Samsung because of safety issues with the Galaxy Note 7, many believe the Galaxy S8 would make 2017 a better year for the South Korean company. The phone was originally set to be launched at the Mobile World Congress in Spain in February, but according to Sam Mobile, Samsung will hold a separate event in New York City for the Galaxy S8, and that it will be released on April 18.

There have been unconfirmed reports about the Galaxy S8's features in the past few months, and they all sound promising. For one, it has been reported that the smartphone will have a 4K AMOLED display that can support virtual reality platforms.

The Galaxy S8 will also have a virtual assistant called Bixby created by Samsung, BGR reports. One of Bixby's uses will be to support the Samsung Pay mobile payment system.
