‘Mafia 3’ Gets PS4 Pro Build But It Went Under The Radar; Check Out The Details Here!

With its new build, "Mafia 3" now supports PS4 Pro. But this definite improvement went under the radar and was not easily noticed by most players. It seems Sony and 2K did not inform players that an upgrade was being done to the game.

The free 1.05 patch was recently launched last Dec. 20, 2016, for the open-world crime game "Mafia 3." The new DLC only noted the addition of new racing modes, car customizations, a brand-new car called the Griffin Marauder, and more free updates inclusive of bug fixes and other customization items.

Given that it was not mentioned in the patch notes when the PS4 Pro support was added to the game or whether it was included in the 1.05 patch, nobody did really notice it until the new build was spotted by Digital Foundry, according to GameSpot. Digital Foundry noted that there is a "perceptible upgrade" for those with access to more powerful hardware.

A thread on NeoGAF summed up the PS4 Pro build for "Mafia 3," which can be seen in the video below. It includes a game resolution increase of up to 1440p from the native 1080p for PS4 Pro owners with a 4K compatible output. However, when players will not utilize a 4K output, then the resolution goes back to the native 1080p. Relatively, they will see small visual improvements.

There will be improved shadow quality in dark game areas and spotlights and improved motion blur. The frame rate has also been improved in terms of stability, capped at 30 frames per second, as reported by VG247.

The question now is: Why did Sony and 2K not advertise the PS4 Pro build for "Mafia 3"? Regardless, the improvements to the game made it a bit more elegant. Such that now, there will be no more in-game stuttering since frame pacing issues on the base PS4 variant have been fixed.

Check out the video below and see if you can notice the updates on your "Mafia 3."
