Cleveland Playground Shooting: 17-Year-Old Victim Dead, Identified By Police

On Sunday, a 17-year-old boy was shot dead at a playground in Ohio. Police officials confirmed this report and identified the victim in the shooting.

The teenager went to the playground to play basketball with some of his friends. He was identified as Devin Price. Cleveland 19 News reported a makeshift memorial was set up in the area where the teen was killed. The shooting took place at around 6:15 p.m.

Reports said aside from Price and his friends, young mothers with their kids and other young children were on the playground when the shooting took place. A couple of men reportedly got out of their car, a light-colored sedan, and started shooting.

None of them have been identified yet. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing, Cleveland.com reported.

No other information was also released by police. It was not stated if the victim knew any of the alleged men who got out of their car and started shooting. It was also not clear if he was the intended victim or if the shooting was a random act. None of the witnesses' accounts have been revealed by police yet.

Price was hit multiple times in the abdomen from the shooting. When police came, they administered life-saving efforts on him while waiting for medical emergency responders. He was taken to an area hospital but was later pronounced dead.

The sister of Price said in a statement her brother never did anything troublesome and was just outside to play basketball. She said the shootings have got to stop because too many children are dying over senseless reasons.

Anyone who has information about the matter or anyone who could lead police to an arrest is urged to call the Homicide Unit at 216-623-5464. The death of Price marks the 15th homicide recorded in Cleveland for 2017.
