Tom Hardy Interested To Be The Next James Bond: Thinks Anyone 'Would Consider Doing Bond'

Now that actor Daniel Craig is on his last 007 film "Spectre" and is about to leave the popular spy series, several actors have shown interest in becoming the next James Bond. After all, who would not want that title—James Bond is the most popular British spy franchise.

In an earlier report from Parent Herald, the top potential actors for the role are Christian Bale, Guy Pearce, Jon Hamm and Sam Worthington. There are also rumors that "Luther" star Idris Elba is a strong contender for the title.

However, Elba just addressed those speculations with a funny tweet, where he wrote: "Isn't 007 supposed to be handsome? Glad you think I've got a shot! Happy New year people."

However, the actor admitted that if the role will be offered to him he will gladly accept it. If that happens, Elba will be the first black James Bond.

Aside from the aforementioned actors, "Homeland" star Damian Lewis and "Legend" actor Tom Hardy were also considered to be the next 007 agent. Lewis was reportedly the top contender, but the fight is close as Hardy's rank for the said role is rising, CinemaBlend reports.

According to the Irish website Boyle Sport, Hardy's odds to be the next beloved spy has been shortened from 6/1 to 4/1; a significant improvement from his last placement. However, the "Mad Max: Fury Road" star is still in the third place of the betting, trailing behind Elba and Lewis, who bookmakers deemed to have the odds of 3/1.

For those who don't think that the actors mentioned above are not perfect for the role, there is nothing to worry because the odds are not official anyway. Bookmakers also include Henry Cavill and Michael Fassbender in the race.

On the other hand, according to Sky News, while promoting for the film "Legend" where Hardy played the notorious twins Ronnie and Reggie Kray, the actor was careful enough not to give details whether he was approached for the role but he said, "I think anybody would consider doing Bond, wouldn't they?"

Just recently, there were old photos of Hardy from his MySpace account circulating online, which made headlines. However, the actor admitted that he has "no shame" over it.

"I've got no shame about my MySpace photos, especially the one of me in my underpants which is a glorious photo of a man in his natural habitat," he said. "I might not be an Adonis, but I like to think of myself as an Adonis in that photo."

The account has been deleted and Hardy has been spending time away from the set to record Dubsmash videos.
