Sean Penn, Charlize Theron Split: Theron Dating Jake Gyllenhaal Silently Since Split? New Couple Alert [Rumors]

It seems that Charlize Theron was indeed over Sean Penn. The ex-couple were engaged to be married, but last June Charlize called off the engagement. The pair, who was once so perfect for each other, grew apart.

An insider told Hollywood Life that Charlize, 40, needs to take a break as being involved with Sean is a full time job, adding that Sean can sometimes be tiring due to his "seriousness and lack of having fun."

Charlize still loves and respects Penn but the arrangement was too intense for her that she needs to free herself. "She is still very young at heart and he plays things by the book," the source added.

On the other hand, a new report links the newly single Theron to her long-time friend Jake Gyllenhaal. According to OK! Magazine, Theron turned to Gyllenhaal, 34, for support, but it seems that things were getting closer between the two.

The pair was spotted enjoying a sushi together at Sugarfish in Los Angeles, Calif. An eyewitness shared that Jake was particularly friendly to his companion. "Jake was touching her hand and smiling, making her laugh. Their chemistry was obvious," the eyewitness said.

A source also told the publication that it was not the first date for the pair who seems to have a mutual attraction towards each other. "There's always been attraction, but the timing was never right," disclosed the source. "The romance is fresh, but they are having a blast so far."

The source even compared Sean and Jake, suggesting that the two men were very different. The insider likened Sean to a power keg, "you never know what might set him off." On the other hand, Jake is "gentle, thoughtful, and kind."

Jake, who dated several women in the past, thinks Charlize is different. He appreciates her for being "strong, independent, and straightforward."

However, according to Gossip Cop, the reports romantically linking Charlize and Jake are not at all true. Gyllenhaal's rep described the reports claiming that Charlize and Jake are secretly dating as "ridiculous" and that it is "not true."

On the other hand, earlier reports were linking Sean to his ex-wife Madonna. This was after the diva posted a throwback photo of them, where she was tilting her head while Penn was kissing her cheek. She captioned the photo with "Its almost our birthdays!! 2 Leo's #rebelhearts photo by Herb Ritts another Leo."

Madonna and Seann met at Madonna's music video for her hit song "Material Girl" way back in 1985. A few months later they got married in a top-secret ceremony and divorced in 1989. The ex-couple remained friends since their divorce, US Weekly has learned.
