'The X-Files' Update: Revival Series To Screen At New York Comic Con in October—Details Here!

Way ahead of its official premiere in January on Fox, "The X-Files" will be shown at the New York Comic Con on Sat., Oct. 10 at the Javis Center in Manhattan.

According to Variety, the show will be screened at the said panel that will also see "The X-Files" star David Duchovny and creator Chris Carter in attendance. "Silicon Valley" actor Kumail Nanjiani will be moderating the panel, and incidentally, he is also a guest on the revival series.

Apart from the sci-fi cult series, other new shows from Fox will also be screened at the event, including "Minority Report," Lookinglass" and "Bordertown," the news outlet reported.

Meanwhile, "The X-Files" will also be screened internationally at the MIPCOM conference in Cannes on Oct. 6 at the Grand Auditorium in Palais, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"The return of this iconic series underlines the current demand for story-telling at its best," said Laurine Garaude one of the MIPCOM organizers. "We are delighted that Fox has chosen MIPCOM for the world premiere of the return of The X-Files, which is one of several high-profile series being showcased exclusively at MIPCOM 2015."

Incidentally, the show originally debuted 22 years ago this week and ran for nine seasons. It made stars of Duchovny, as FBI Agent Fox Mulder, a believer of aliens and supernatural, and Gillian Anderson, as FBI Agent Dana Scully, who provided the science to their investigations.

When the show returns on Fox for its revival offering, there will only be six short episodes. "It was very hard to find a window for the three of us—[creator Chris Carter, co-star Gillian Anderson] and I—to get together to do any episodes. So six was kind of a two-and-a-half/three-month commitment, and we're all able to do that," said Duchovny, according to Yahoo.

Fans need not worry though as these have been written by former scribes of the show according to Digital Spy.  They can expect the usual stride and monster-of-week treatment to the latest offering, but there will also be another story that will delve on alien mythology.

New faces like Joel McHale, Robbie Amell and Lauren Ambrose will be part of the new version of "The X-Files," while old fan favorites like Walter Skinner (Mitch Pileggi), Monica Reyes (Annabeth Gish), The Cigarette Smoking Man (William B. Davis) and The Lone Gunmen team are also set to appear.

"The X Files" won't be airing on television until Jan. 24 on Fox.
