Jessica Simpson Celebrates Pregnancy with Baby Shower

Jessica Simpson is all set to welcome her second child.

The pregnant Fashion Star mentor, who is expecting a baby boy with fiancée football player Eric Johnson, had a great time celebrating her baby shower with friends and family members, Sunday, April 14, at the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles.

The beautiful event, based on Mark Twain's popular character Tom Sawyer, was hosted by Simpson's sister Ashlee Simpson, close friend Jessica Alba and hair stylist Ken Paves. Mindy Weiss, the brains behind the eye-catching shower, made the event special by presenting colorful flowers and cabbage leaves on a vintage background.  

More than 100 intimate guests, including celebrities, joined the mom-to-be to make the day special, Radar Online reported. Another major attraction of the party was the food. The menu included a variety of delicious food items like grilled cheese, mini sliders, and pigs in a blanket. Apart from that, the hosts added a special item craved by the expecting singer - salad with Thousand Island dressing.

"She's craving it!" Weiss told People magazine.

Simpson's father Joe, who legally ended his 34 years of married life with wife Tina in September 2012, reached the spot late to avoid any problems with his ex-spouse on his daughter's big day.

"Joe has agreed to come a little later so Tina can slip out before he gets there to avoid any drama on Jessica's big day," a source told Radar. "They both were desperate to come and support their daughter, but it's been a little bit difficult with everything that's been going on between the pair."

The new little addition will be joining the couple's infant daughter Maxwell Drew. Speculation about Simpson's second pregnancy first hit the Internet in November. However, the expecting actress kept mum on the topic until she confirmed the news on Christmas day 2012. Simpson indirectly mentioned her second pregnancy by posting an adorable photo of her infant daughter Maxwell sitting on a beach, with the words "Big Sis" written on the sand. In March 2013, during a chat with Jimmy Kimmel, Simpson revealed that she is expecting a baby boy.

Simpson, who referred to her second pregnancy as a totally different experience, has been updating the changes regularly on her Twitter account.

"My favorite album during pregnancy #2 is Harvest Moon by Neil Young. I can't stop listening to it!!! Love!" she wrote, April 13.
