Prince William Didn't Tell Prince George He's Royal; Says 'We Are A Normal Family'

Prince William and Kate Middleton didn't let their 2-year-old son, Prince George, know that he is royal and that probably 60 years from now, he'll be the crowned as the King of England. The Duke of Cambridge claims that they are a "normal family."

In an attempt to keep normalcy within the family, Prince William told Nicholas Witchell, BBC's royal correspondent that he is like any father, reports Time. Prince William and Kate Middleton have not yet informed Prince George that he is an heir to the British Monarchy, and that the young Prince George would have to live with paparazzis following him for the rest of his life.

"We are a normal family," Prince William explicitly said during the interview aired on the eve of Queen Elizabeth II's 90th birthday. The Duke of Cambridge also elaborated his statement.

Prince William said that he loves his children just like any father, and went on saying that they were "very normal in that sense." Marie Claire said that Prince William hopes that Prince George loves him the same way that any son would his father.

Although Prince William's statement about living a normal family life might raise the eyebrows of many, the Duke of Cambridge tried his best to project an image of having a normal family. "I'm a new father and I take my duties and my responsibilities to my family very seriously," Prince William explained.

The Duke of Cambridge also said that he wants to instill the values of service and duty to others to his children, as he considers these two as very important. This must also be why instead of opening the eyes of Prince George to the glitz and glamor of royalty, Prince William was more into teaching real good values to his son.

Since Queen Elizabeth II is now in her 90's, Witchell couldn't help but address the issue of Prince William being hailed as the "slightly reluctant royal" and the "work-shy William." This may have been brought about by fears of creating a void in the British Monarchy if Prince William does not see himself as the future King of England.

Prince William said that being King of England is "not something that's at the top of my priority list to think about." However, Prince William was also quick to add that since his grandparents are in their 90s, he would have to be "the first person to put his hand up" if there's a need for him to take on more responsibilities as the successor to the royal throne.
