'The Good Wife' Season 7 Finale Recap: Peter Admits To Another Affair, Jason Fears Alicia Won't Divorce

Once a cheater, always a cheater and Peter proved that again in the penultimate episode of "The Good Wife" Season 7 finale. With just one more episode to go before the show bows on television, "Verdict" had to end in a cliffhanger. So, what did viewers learn about Peter's trial?

"The Good Wife" Season 7 Episode 21 "Verdict" revealed that Peter Florrick (Chris Noth) has been having a long-standing affair with State's Attorney lawyer Geneva Pine. Was anyone shocked? Hardly. This was a fact everyone knew at Peter's work.  When this was revealed by Louis Canning (Michael J. Fox) to Alicia Florrick (Juliana Margulies), she was not surprised as well, knowing her husband's history of cheating.

Nor was Alicia interested to find out what Geneva's motives are. Instead, she focused on the litigation of her soon-to-be ex-husband. Despite their marriage, she still wants to help clear his name. Her colleague, Dianne Lockhart (Christin Baranski), took charge of the defense and showed her A-game. But realizing they're losing, they sought to take a two-year plea deal for Peter.

Alicia told him she would visit him in prison. However, before viewers learn what the jury has to say about the case, the writers decided to leave the episode with Peter standing, waiting to hear the verdict for next week, TV Line reports.

'The Good Wife' Finale: All-Female Law Firm

Meanwhile, back at the firm, the establishment of Diane's all-female law office is moving forward and David Lee (Zach Grenier) had no idea the office interior decorations have been changed. Upon realizing this, he typically whined and grumbled. He's not having any of this feminist law team.

'The Good Wife' Finale: What About Jason?

Jason (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) opened up to Luca Quinn (Cush Jumbo) about Alicia. He's not sure if she would pursue divorcing Peter under the circumstances. But Entertainment Online saw this scene as a hint that the good wife would eventually run off with her lover in the finale, to finally liberate herself from everything that tied her down all those years.

Viewers will have one more week to know the truth, as "The Good Wife" Season 7 finale comes to a close Sunday, May 8. Watch a video of Peter's verdict in the video below:
