Artificial Intelligence News: Obama To Employ AI; Learn Why You Should Embrace AI And Not Fear It

Artificial Intelligence or AI is a hot topic today because of its potential to carry out tasks in a more impressive way. AI is fast and more accurate compared to humans. According to new reports, Pres. Barack Obama is planning to use AI in the government.

Barack Obama Will Employ AI

The White House announced that the Federal Government is working on leveraging AI for the public good and towards a more effective government. The National Science and Technology council subcommittee on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence is set to meet for the first time next week. They will monitor the progress and milestones in AI and machine learning within the Federal Government, in the private sector and internationally.

The administration wanted to increase the involvement of AI and machine learning in improving government services. The government is hopeful about the AI-driven improvement on programs and delivery of services related to the urban system, smart cities, mental and physical health, social welfare, criminal justice, environment and more.

Why Should You Embrace AI?

Yes, when something is too good to be true, we should suspect it, such as the case with AI. Despite AI's potential, there is a growing concern that it might take over the world. Parent Herald previously reported that middle and working class may face job displacement in the future when robots and AI take over the workforce.

However, Adam Coates, director of Baidu Research's Silicon Valley AI Lab is encouraging everyone not to fear AI. "I want you to stop worry about killer AI robots," Coates said per Information Week. "I want you to start worrying about all the positive impacts AI can have for you and your companies."

Coates believes that AI has a huge potential to create a lot of good stuff. AI system can be used for customer service, fraud protection and several other services. He notes that we should not see neural networks as efforts to rival human intelligence.

Do you agree with Coates? Do you fear AI or you support it fully? What are your fears concerning AI? Can you imagine a future run by AI, robots and machine learning alone? Share your thoughts in the comment section below
