‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 8 Spoilers, News & Updates: Nina Dobrev’s Return Confirmed In Series Finale

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 finale has seen, or rather heard, a surprise cameo from Nina Dobrev. This has led to speculations that the 27-year-old actress will be reprising her role as Elena Gilbert in what appears to be the series finale of the CW series.

Speaking with TVLine, series creator Julie Plec shared that Dobrev did the ADR (automated dialogue replacement) herself for the "TVD" Season 7 finale. Plec revealed that she reached out to Dobrev and asked if she was willing to do the ADR and reunite with her former co-stars.

"She chose to do it in person, which was great, because it was a nice little personal Nina visit," said Plec.

Plec also explained the possibility that Dobrev may reprise her role in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8. According to the series creator, she and Dobrev have already agreed on having her return for the series finale.

Plec, however, was open to the possibility that Dobrev may still return earlier than what they initially agreed upon. While this is definitely going to send a lot of "Delena" fans into a state of frenzy for "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8, Carter Matt notes on other potential storylines for the series.

According to the publication, "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 may focus more on getting Caroline and Stefan aka "Steroline" together and hopefully see them planning for their future. The show may also see the return of Damon's dark side, which was exemplified during the show's first season.
