'The Vampire Diaries' Season 8 News & Update: Julie Plec Confirms Nina Dobrev's Return; Season 8 The Last In The Series?

"The Vampire Diaries" is one of the most popular series on The CW. However, according to reports, its season 7 finale did not rate well.

'The Vampire Diaries' Season 7 Finale Had The Lowest Ratings

For years, "TVD" has dominated the small screens. However, the trend has already changed. Ecumenical News reported that "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 finale had the lowest recorded finale rating in the history of the drama series. Aside from this, several cast had already announced that they are leaving the show.

'The Vampire Diaries' Season 8 The Last In The Series?

Kat Graham already announced that "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 would be her last. Meanwhile, Parent Herald previously reported that Ian Somerhalder may also leave the show after season 8. There are also rumors that Paul Wesley will also be leaving the show after the upcoming season.

"TVD" fans will still see Bonnie, Damon and Stefan in "The Vampire Diaries" season 8. However, this will be the last season when we will see all three together because they have already hinted their departure in the franchise. Meanwhile, there are rumors that Nina Dobrev will return.

Nina Dobrev To Return In 'The Vampire Diaries'

"The Vampire Diaries" executive producer Julie Plec confirmed that Nina Dobrev might return to the franchise. In "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 finale, the former "TVD" star did a special voice over that marked her potential return in the show that catapulted her to fame.

Plec disclosed that she reached out to Nina Dobrev to do the automated dialogue replacement and she visited them to the recording in person. "She chose to do it in person, which was great, because it was a nice little personal Nina visit," Plec told TV Line. Plec stressed that she will stick to her plan of bringing Nina Dobrev back for "The Vampire Diaries" series finale.

If "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 would be Bonnie, Damon and Stefan's last season, would it help if they bring Elena back on the same season and end the series for good? With so many characters leaving "The Vampire Diaries" will the franchise stand beyond season 8? Should the network end the series? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
