Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens are expected to make a short but sweet reunion in "High School Musical 4." However, a recent report suggests that the former couple's reunion for the Disney movie is unlikely to happen.

It has already been months since Disney announced that the "High School Musical 4" was in the works. Since then, fans have been excitedly anticipating the reunion between Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron.

The 28-year-old actor made a lot of fans even more excited when he shared a throwback photo with Hudgens on his Instagram page. Fans believed that this was a hint that Efron was ready to star in a project with his ex-girlfriend after so many years and "HSM 4" was the best avenue to make this happen.

However, a report from Ecumenical News suggests that Efron and Hudgens reunion in "High School Musical 4" may not happen at all. According to the publication, both Efron and Hudgens are busy with their upcoming projects.

Efron is currently in talks to star in "The Greatest Showman on Earth." He has recently finished filming his upcoming movie "Baywatch" and he has also released a couple of movies over the past year such as "Neighbors 2" and "We Are Your Friends."

The 27-year-old actress, on the other hand, was recently tapped to star in the NBC series "Powerless." Despite Efron and Hudgens' busy schedules, fans continue to hold out hope that the former couple will reunite on "High School Musical 4" for a cameo role.

Meanwhile, the script for "High School Musical 4" was leaked online. The script showed the casting call for the lead role named Peyton in the upcoming sequel.

"High School Musical 4" will focus on new characters. It remains to be seen which characters from the previous installments will appear in the sequel.
