‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ Rumors, Latest News & Updates: Fans Still Hoping For ‘RDR 2’ Release In 2017? Rumors Hint Multiplayer Mode Possibility

After six long years of waiting, the demand for "Red Dead Redemption 2" remains "feverish." In fact, many fans are still optimistic for the possible 2017 release of the highly anticipated "RDR" sequel, noting the release of a leaked map in April as well as the thwarted E3 2016 unveiling.

Last month, "Red Dead Redemption 2" made headlines after reports circulated that it would be unveiled during the E3 2016 in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, the "RDR 2" trailer launch, which reportedly features violent scenes and footages, was apparently cancelled due to the Orlando shooting, as Parent Herald previously reported.

'Red Dead Redemption 2' To Feature A Multiplayer Mode?

As the world patiently waits for Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive's official announcement for the much-anticipated "Red Dead Redemption 2," latest rumors claimed that the upcoming "RDR" game sequel will feature a multiplayer mode. Unfortunately, details remain unclear if the mode will be playable for several maps within the title or only be limited to selected maps, Ecumenical News learns.

'RDR 2' Still A Possibility?

During the recent Xbox One conference and E3 2016 event, many fans expected Rockstar's announcement for "Red Dead Redemption 2." But the game sequel was a no show and its future remained uncertain.

Sony PlayStation's Third Party Relations & Developer Technology Group vice president Adam Boyes has also dispelled the rumors that the "RDR 2" reveal was canceled due to the Orlando shooting, emphasizing the fact that Sony had no plans to unveil a new Rockstar game at all, particularly "Red Dead Redemption 2." Boyes also stressed no changes has been made on the content of the conference, which has been "locked" for months, Mobi Picker reports.

"No, this is not true," Boyes posted on Twitter. "The length and content we showed has been locked and unchanged for months."

Take-Two Interactive Didn't Come To E3 2016 In A 'Big Way' Despite Announcement

Expectations were too high for Take-Two Interactive during the E3 2016 last month after CEO Strauss Zelnick previously announced that the studio will come to the event in a "big way." Even though Zelnick never hinted to reveal a new game, many expected the unveiling of "Red Dead Redemption 2."

Take-Two Interactive, however, didn't reportedly make a huge reveal at the E3 2016. According to Daily Express, a PlayStation Lifestyle journalist said they didn't see anything from the company except for "Mafia III."

"Many people are of the view that the Days Gone demo at the end replaced the Red Dead reveal," the journalist said. "What makes the rumor even more interesting is that Take-Two said a while ago that it would be at E3 in a 'big way' but so far, we haven't seen anything from the company (except Mafia III) that we would consider 'big' unless Take-Two was simply talking about its presence on the show floor."

Why 'Red Dead Redemption 2' Is Better Than 'GTA V'?

Despite the uncertainties that plagued the release of "Red Dead Redemption 2," What Culture lists 10 reasons why "RDR 2" is much better than "Grand Theft Auto V." According to Kevin McCasland, "Red Dead Redemption" offers an "online experience that lives up to expectations." For the complete list, click here.

Meanwhile, aside from the multiplayer mode speculation, "Red Dead Redemption 2" 2017 release is also uncertain. Despite the map leaks, "RDR 2" reports are still unofficial and unconfirmed.
