'The Leftovers' Season 3 Spoilers, Teaser, Air Date & News: Justin Theroux Confirms Filming Is Done; Ann Dowd Part Of S3?

After long months of filming in Australia, "The Leftovers" cast and crew are finally packing up. Work has apparently finished for the HBO drama series. Now, the waiting game for the actual air date of the show's third and final season begins for the fans. Will viewers see the first teaser to Season 3 in the next few weeks?

Justin Theroux (Kevin Garvey) posted a short video clip on his Instagram to announce that filming wrapped-up and to thank the people who worked on "The Leftovers." He captioned the video with an inside joke pertaining to a Mike from the crew, and he also sent his love to everyone.

The clip featured the people working behind the scenes in a group shot, but for some reason Justin Theroux creatively added a rocket ship. He added the hashtag #blazeofglory in closing his message.

"The Leftovers" Season 3 filming started back in June in Austin, where a photo of a half-naked Justin Theroux popped up on the internet, via People. By the following month, the cast and crew flew to Australia for the rest of the production. Several set sightings in Melbourne were documented by the show's avid viewers, as Parent Herald previously reported. It is believed that most of the cast members returned for "The Leftovers" Season 3, except for Ann Dowd (Patti).

In May, "The Leftovers" creator Damon Lindelof stated that viewers have already seen a "finality" with Ann Dowd's character in Season 2, per Vulture. The statement suggested that Patti won't be returning to "The Leftovers" Season 3. However, with anything possible on television, fans remain hopeful she will still appear.

Curiously, a post on Liv Tyler's Instagram from two weeks ago revealed a wall filled with the cast's photos -- and there was Ann Dowd. It should be noted that one of the final scenes recently filmed for "The Leftovers" Season 3 hinted of a pivotal storyline from the previous seasons that included her character, Patti. Parent Herald reported on this fact earlier as well.

"The Leftovers" is expected to premiere Season 3 in early 2017 with only eight episodes. Damon Lindelof and HBO have confirmed this will be the final season.
