'The Last of Us 2' Release Date to Coincide with Next Gen Consoles Launch? E3 2017 Announcement Likely?

Naughty Dog continues to keep a tight lip when it comes to "The Last of Us 2" release date. Speculations about the highly anticipated sequel have spread like wildfire online, but no one really knows if the game will see the light of day.

Previous plot speculations for "The Last of Us 2" have suggested that both leads from the original game will be back. While not everyone is excited to see Joel and Ellie back, many are still hoping to see what will happen to them after the events of "The Last of Us."

Other "The Last of Us 2" rumors have also started to predict that the sequel could actually be a prequel with a new lead. Some have suggested that Marlene and the Fireflies could actually be one of the main focuses of the upcoming title.

Meanwhile, Gamespot recently reported that the talent who lent her voice to Ellie has been very open to say that she is very much interested in doing the sequel should it be green lit. Ashley Johnson has expressed her intent to return and do Ellie's voice in "The Last of Us 2," given that Naughty Dog has created a new plot for the character.
