'The Get Down' Season 2 Air Date, News & Update: Netflix Series From Baz Luhrmann Brings In New Characters, Updated Roles?

"The Get Down" Season 1 from Netflix and creator Baz Luhrmann has yet to complete its run but S2 production planning is well under way with characters and roles being updated. Although Books Figueroa (Justice Smith), Shaolin Fantastic (Shameik Moore) and Mylene Cruz (Herizen F. Guardiola) will remain in central roles, "The Get Down" Season 2 is introducing new roles into the Netflix series.

Perhaps this is largely due to, as Parent Herald cites, a jump into the '80s era when Netflix returns with "The Get Down" Season 2. Producer-writer told Entertainment Weekly that "The Get Down" Season 2 will allow Books Figueroa, Shaolin Fantastic and Mylene Cruz to take the Netflix series into the exploration of crack addiction, the fall of disco and the rise of hip hop.

DNAInfo reports that Cast It Talent, which sets up auditions for the Netflix series, brought in the cast for "The Get Down" Season 1 roles. "The Get Down" Season 1 particularly required Cast It Talent to look for a diverse group of performers and extras in TheGetDownCasting.com for the Netflix series.

Cast It Talent removed all casting requirements for "The Get Down" recently but promised DNAInfo that the agency will be looking for new performers for the Netflix series. According to Cast It, new characters and updated roles for the Netflix series will be announced soon for "The Get Down."

Interestingly, Cast It Talent told DNA Info that the casting agency is unable to release details on "The Get Down" Season 2 roles. Cast It Talent has to wait until Netflix officially releases information on "The Get Down" Season 2 to the public.

This excitingly means that "The Get Down" Season 2 plans are translating well into a future Netflix offering. At the moment Netflix is yet to confirm "The Get Down" Season 2 commitments.

The media agency cites an interview by Vulture with Baz Luhrmann where the Netflix series creator revealed his determination to entrust key roles in "The Get Down" to undiscovered talents.

Netflix released "The Get Down" Season 1 Part 1 on August 12 this year, with Part 2 scheduled for 2017. Are you happy with the Netflix series going into the '80s in "The Get Down" Season 2 or would you prefer the Baz Luhrmann production to keep Books Figueroa, Shaolin Fantastic and Mylene Cruz in the '70s?
