'Let The Right One In' Vampire TV Series Cast Lead Female Star, Hires Pilot Director For 2017 Debut On TNT

TNT's adaptation of the Swedish vampire novel "Let The Right One In" into a television series is taking shape. The network has already found its lead star, as well as enlisted its pilot episode director. The show is expected to debut on TV in 2017.

Kristine Froseth has been cast as the lead in TNT's "Let The Right One In." The 19-year-old actress and model will soon be seen in the movie "Rebel in the Rye" with Kevin Spacey, Sarah Paulson and Nicholas Hoult. She also previously starred in "Junior," which ran as a web series.

Kristine Froseth will play the role of a century-old vampire who remains in a body of a young woman. She becomes friends and eventually falls in love with a human teenage boy. The character has been played by Chloe Grace Moretz in the 2010 movie adaptation of "Let The Right One In" called "Let Me In."

The network is currently casting for the role of the lead actor, whose character is a victim of bullying and is described as a loner in the book. But TNT has already enlisted the director of the pilot for "Let The Right One In." Deadline reports that Euros Lyn is helming the first episode. The Welsh director is credited for his work in the award-winning British drama series "Happy Valley."

"Let The Right One In," which as penned by John Ajvide Lindqvist, was first turned into a Swedish movie in 2008 and drew positive reactions from viewers. However, the American adaptation failed to earn box office favor. With a budget of $20 million, the movie only made over $12 million in the U.S., per Box Office Mojo.

TNT's "Let The Right One In" is created by Jeff Davis, the man behind "Criminal Minds," with Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements and Simon Oakes serving as executive producers. "This novel is a watershed of rich storytelling, making it an abundant source from which Jeff, Marty, Becky and Simon will bring to life in this all-new adaptation," TNT's programing head Sarah Aubrey said in announcing the series, Variety reports.
