Early announcement of an upcoming Halloween event for Blizzard Entertainment's first-person shooter game "Overwatch" has circulated the internet after the supposed event was "leaked" from the Xbox Store.
According to IGN, the leak came from a Reddit user named ChronosHero when they posted an image supposedly taken from the Xbox Store. The image showed details of "Overwatch's" spooky themed loot boxes as well as announcing a Halloween Terror Event.
Reading the text in the image posted on Reddit, it says that the "Overwatch" Halloween oot boxes will contain up to four cosmetic items which would include at least one of the following: Halloween-themed skin, spray, highlight intro, an avatar emote, a pose, player icon, avatar voice line, or credits which can be used to unlock other items.
The image text also states that the end date for the Halloween loot boxes is on November 11. Despite the leak, Siliconera says Blizzard has yet to make an official announcement on the "Overwatch" Halloween event or the leak.
IGN also says that details on the image might hint on the reveal of a new "Overwatch" character, citing that the skull design on the candy in the background of the image is associated with "Sombra," a rumored character who isn't expected to be revealed for at least a couple of days more.
Last summer, "Overwatch" also had a "Summer Games" event which was themed after the Summer Olympics in Rio. The event also had event-specific content like loot boxes and cosmetic items. The "Summer Games" even ended on August 23.
"We hope you've enjoyed the Summer Games, and we're looking forward to the future of seasonal events like this," Gamespot cites Blizzard. "Thank you for all of the feedback you've provided us, and we hope to keep improving season after season." Developers of "Overwatch" appears to be working on two new heroes and four new modes, according to IGN.
