'Predator Update': Benicio Del Toro Out? Boyd Holbrook In?

A new version of "Predator" is in the works, and it seems that Benicio Del Toro will no longer be part of the film. However, "Narcos" star Boyd Holbrook is said to be replacing Del Toro.

Everything in the production set was all ready for Del Toro to assume the role; in fact, the crew had already adjusted their schedule in order to accommodate Del Toro so he would be able to film "Predator." Alas, scheduling problems were persistent with Del Toro who is also supposed to shoot a sequel to "Sicario", according to Hollywood Reporter.

Holbrook, who also happens to be the lead antagonist of the next Wolverine movie entitled "Logan," does not seem to bring that much star power as compared to Del Toro, but his performance in "Narcos" and "Gone Girl" brings much promise to "Predator." The original film was what propelled Arnold Schwarzenegger to elite stardom, and perhaps we can safely say that the film may do just that as well to Boyd Holbrook who is currently on a roll.

ComingSoon.net reports that the film is in continuity of the first two films and that the details of the film are still under wraps. However, we can report that the crew is telling viewers to get excited for the reason that this is a reinvention of a franchise and that we should all expect the unexpected when it comes to this film.

Shane Black has been tasked to direct the sci-fi sequel, and viewers might be familiar with him on his work which includes "Iron Man 3" and "The Nice Guys." Black says that there (the title) is a reference in the script, but refuses to explain any further.

While Boyd Holbrook is a relatively new name for a lot, the powers that be have already planned out some big names for the supporting crew. "Predator" will start filming in February 2017, and it is expected to hit theaters on February 9, 2018.
