‘Fantastic Beasts 2’ Spoilers & Everything Confirmed So Far: Bigger Focus On Newt’s Romantic Past, Johnny Depp & Zoe Kravitz

"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" just debuted in theaters but there are already spoilers popping up on the internet about its sequel, which is slated to premiere in 2018. Here's everything confirmed about "Fantastic Beasts 2" so far.

"Fantastic Beasts 2" will veer away from Newt's (Eddie Redmayne) creatures and center on Grindelwald's (Johnny Depp) story, director David Yates told Leaky Cauldron. A young Albus Dumbledore will also appear in the follow-up as Grindelwald's former friend and now nemesis.

Dumbledore has a close relationship with Newt, so that will be explored in "Fantastic Beasts 2" as well, IGN reported. Casting for the "Fantastic Beasts 2" role is still underway.

"Fantastic Beasts 2" will depart New York and explore Europe more, especially Paris and the United Kingdom. Fans should also expect Newt's physical appearance to get older over the next four installments. "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" screenwriter J.K. Rowling revealed via Twitter that the first movie was set in 1926 and the fifth installment will end in 1945.

Katherine Waterston and Alison Sudol will reprise their roles as Tina and Queenie, respectively, in "Fantastic Beasts 2." Viewers will see more of Leta Lestrange (Zoe Kravitz), Newt's past love interest, in the sequel.

In "Fantastic Beasts," Tina and Queenie were examining Newt's magical suitcase and saw a black and white photo of Leta, a woman whom Newt harbored affections for in the past. It's clear that Newt and Leta's association didn't have a happy ending and this was confirmed by Queenie through her gift of Legilimens, or the ability to read other people's minds even without a wand, according to SlashFilm.

In the movie, Queenie empathized with what happened between Newt and Leta, telling him that what he deserves is a "giver" and not the "taker" kind of person like Leta. Yates told Cinema Blend that Newt's feelings for Leta will be explored more in "Fantastic Beasts 2."

Yates described Leta as a "tragic" woman who's "quite complicated and damaged and confused and Newt is absolutely still in love with her." This explains why she has power and influence over Newt.

Leta's nature isn't surprising, given that the Lestrange family is known for such qualities. The Death Eater Bellatrix (Helena Bonham Carter) was proof of this.

"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2" will bow in theaters on Nov. 16, 2018. What do you think of the sequel so far? Share your thoughts below.
