Angelina Jolie Vs Alicia Vikander: ‘Tomb Raider’ Reboot To Show Who Is A Better Lara Croft? Plot Will Serve As A Prequel?

"Tomb Raider," one of Angelina Jolie's most memorable movies is coming back to the cinemas in 2018. The "Ex-Machina" star, Alicia Vikander takes on the role as the new Lara Croft in this hit movie. As Jolie's effective portrayal made the popular video game character so closely associated with her, people are wondering if the Swedish actress can do justice to the role.

Well, according to the producer of "Tomb Raider," Graham King, the new film to feature Vikander offers a fresh plot and promises to be a much better version than the original film released in 2001 as published in Collider. As of now, mentioning anything "Tomb Raider" is pretty much synonymous to Jolie. In fact, this film marks the start of the "Maleficent" actress in action movies. Yet probably Vikander's portrayal can actually surpass the performance of the 41-year old star to the point that the public will now have a new Lara Croft in mind.

On the other hand, instead of coming out as a sort of competition, perhaps the viewers will now have two effective Lara Croft. This is because the plot of the 2018, "Tomb Raider" will give the movie and the role a very distinct character. According to Graham King, the new adventure movie will serve as a prequel and will largely feature the story origins.

This means the character of Alicia Vikander will show a younger Lara Croft. In the 2018, "Tomb Raider" will see an emotional Lara looking for her father. Graham King believes that the new version of "Tomb Raider" to be directed by Roar Uthaug and written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet will be a great film.

Are you happy with the news that Alicia Vikander will now be the new Lara Croft? Or Angelina Jolie is the only Croft for you?
