How Charity Work Affects Neil Patrick Harris & David Burtka’s Children's Life Perspective

Charity work has been a staple in both Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka's life. It's not unexpected that the couple's involvement with charitable organizations will influence their kids as well.

Harris and Burtka are raising six-year-old twins, Harper Grace and Gideon Scott Burtka-Harris. Holidays serve as a bonding time for the family and they don't just partake in the festivities; the brood delivers meals to the less fortunate before and during the holidays, just like what happened in this year's Thanksgiving, according to Yahoo! Celebrity.

Netflix's "A Series of Unfortunate Events" lead star shared that their family live in Harlem, New York, and "there's a lot of people in the area nearby that could certainly use the help." Both Harper and Gideon join their parents in this particular endeavor and as a result, the kids gain "a valuable and much-needed perspective on life," Harris revealed.

Harris' parenting style has developed as years went by, crediting experience as the primary driving force behind that change. The former "How I Met Your Mother" actor learned that "rigidity is your enemy, and fluidity is way more helpful."

For Harris, children are always changing and that brings about "new structures and new dynamics." The best parents can do about this unavoidable parenting aspect is "to stand firm on your beliefs," though he also acknowledged that children will do something that can alter a parent's belief. When this happens, Harris makes sure to let go of some of his parenting rigidity in order to ease the tension.

Harris, Burtka and their twins took a trip to the Walt Disney World amusement park in Florida this week. The adorable family visited some of the theme park's popular rides such as the Magic Kingdom park, the Seven Dwarf's Mine Train roller coaster, the iconic It's a Small World ride, the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, the Animal Kingdom, the Kali River Rapids, and the Expedition Everest thrill ride, People listed.

Earlier this month, the twins attended their first ever football game (the New York Giants vs. the Philadelphia Eagles) at MetLife Stadium, according to a separate report from People. The kids, who just started kindergarten in September, got an ice cream treat at the game as well.
