According to The Guardian, the final episode of "Westworld" Season 1 thus kept its promise to give a proper conclusion to the all the puzzles in the stories. It opens to the scene of Dolores waking up to see Arnold. It will then be revealed that Dolores is actually being controlled by a voice in her head which belongs to the villain, Wyatt.

The Man in Black also turned out to be connected to William who just like Dolores has become ensnared in a dark realm of past hurts. This circumstance led him to be the mysterious man who is likewise the owner of the park.
