Sunlight May Reduce Risk of Nearsightedness or Myopia

New studies that have been made where it was reported that if there is exposure to sun rays or sunlight, the risk of nearsightedness can be reduced to a great extent. Researchers has been doing a number of experiments and studies in order to know if this is true or not.

Studies made at Jama Ophthalmology had proved that the people who had exposure to the UV radiations, had lesser risks of developing myopia. Basically, the sun ray exposure helps in a way that it has the consistency of vitamin D.

One other thing that they found out was that, schooling can be a great risk for your eyesight. Schooling also a cause why myopia can occur. However, the reason remains yet to be known. The Newyork Times reports.
Also the people who contained the blood levels containing lutein also had a really less risk of developing of myopia. Lutein is found in green leafy vegetables.

It is suggested by Live Science, that more time should be spent outdoors in order to avoid myopia. However, it is also said that in the middle of the day time the risks of getting cancer is really high, which is why, it is suggested to not spend more time outdoors and instead stay indoors in the meanwhile, so for the purpose of preventions.

Similar advices and preventions plus precautionary measures were given by Astrid E. Fletcher who belongs to the school of Hygiene and Medicine (Tropical) and this school is situated in London. She also suggested staying indoors during the middle of the day, as the sharp rays of the sun can prove to be harmful and damaging to the human eye during peak hot hours. However, she also made it clear that going outdoors can help in the prevention of myopia
