'Grimm' Season 6 Air Date, News & Latest Update: Penultimate Episode Promises Major Showdown For Nick Burkhardt, Scooby Gang?

"Grimm Season 6" hints at a major showdown for Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) come the penultimate episode "Zerstörer Shrugged." The NBC police procedural series is anticipated to snowball to its end. Resolution to this series of rivalries, love triangles, evil magic and new families in a world of humans and Wessens will soon begin.

As Bitsie Tulloch (Juliette Silverton, Eve) posted on Twitter, the "Grimm Season 6" finale is preceded by "Zerstörer Shrugged," Episode 12. As poignant an episode as it is in terms of significance to loyal Grimmsters, the title in itself suggests Nick Burkhardt and his team are not about to get any slack. Episode 12, as the title hints, promises a major showdown is coming to the Scooby gang.

By then the remaining members of the Scooby gang, who would have survived the difficulties of the earlier episodes in "Grimm Season 6" is anyone's guess. As early as Episode 3 "Oh Captain, My Captain," Nick Burkhardt and Sean Renard (Sasha Roiz) will be battling out their opposing views on human and Wesen co-existence. Incidentally, as IMDb notes, David Giuntoli takes on the director's hat in Episode 3– and this is for the first in the series.

Certainly, nothing will be subtle about "Grimm Season 6." And well the series can afford to skip subtleties, especially with the evil magic stick still hanging loose in the series. "Blood Magic," Episode 10 may be when the Scooby gang squares off with the evil within the magic stick and the consequences it extricates from the "favors" it has been extending to Nick Burkhardt and his friends.

How the series ends anyone's guess. But by the time "Grimm Season 6" runs Episode 12, "Zerstörer Shrugged," casting would have been pared down to the core characters. The "Grimm Season 6" premiere will air on NBC on Jan 6, 2017.
