‘Nashville’ Season 5 Spoilers: Why Was Will Hesitant To Kiss? Rayna Has Stalker; Maddie Has A New Boyfriend; [TRAILER]

After being cancelled by ABC and now picked up by CMT, "Nashville" season 5 is returning with an explosive 2-hour premiere on Jan. 5, 2017. CMT has released the extended trailer for the premiere episode featuring mysteries to unfold on Rayna's (Connie Britton) stalker and Maddie's (Lennon Stella) new boyfriend. The plot intensifies with Juliette's (Hayden Panettiere) journey to recovery plus a highlight on Will's (Chris Carmack) relationship.

The trailer starts with Juliette struggling to recover, emotionally and physically. The doctor told her it might take months before her legs can feel anything. However, Juliette seems discouraged and hopeless as she told the doctor that her legs might "never" feel anything again.

The promo clip also featured scenes where Rayna is being photographed from a distance, whose identity was not revealed. The premiere episode is yet to unveil the identity of this mysterious stalker and his motives for stalking on Rayna.

Furthermore, scenes highlighting the relationship of Will Lexington were also flashed. One scene shows Will was saying they can find time to level up their relationship. Another scene reveals Will was with another guy trying to kiss him but the former was hesitant to lock lips with the guy.

In an interview with TVLine, executive producer Marshall Herskovitz reveals "a great" arc is prepared for Will in the upcoming season 5 of "Nashville." The EP added that Will is about to do something new, which was not done in the history of "Nashville" yet.

Herskovitz emphasized that they value Will as a human being first, then as a musician, yet the character's sexuality does not define him. The executive producer also teased that season 5 of "Nashville" will not focus much on the person that Will loves. Herskovitz stressed that they have a different direction for Will, than his love life. Fans of "Nashville" will now see some depth on the character of Will.

In addition, the EP also praised Chris Carmack for his amazing portrayal of the role of Will. Herskovitz said that Chris Carmack is a "wonderful actor."

Season 5 of "Nashville" will air on Jan. 5, 2017 at 9 p.m. on CMT. Check out the trailer below.
