‘Major Crimes’ Season 5 Updates: TNT Finally Announced Winter Return Date; New Cast Revealed

Finally, "Major Crimes" season 5B has been given a return date. Fans will again see the series on Feb. 22, with its new air day of Wednesdays, at 9 p.m. The back half of season 5 of "Major Crimes" will feature new cast like Emmy winner Camryn Manheim of "The Practice," "The People v. O.J. Simpson" star Leonard Roberts, "Silk Stalkings" star Rob Estes and Daniel DiTomasso.

"Major Crimes" season 5 will return with a new timeslot. The series will now be aired to compete with Fox' "Freshman Star," CW's "The 100," CBS' "Criminal Minds," and NBC's "SVU."

Also, according to TVLine, the back half of season 5 of "Major Crimes" will have Leonard Roberts as a guest star to play the role of Sharon's opponent for the post of late Russell Taylor's Assistant Chief of Special Operations. The roles for Camryn Manheim and Rob Estes have not been disclosed as of this time.

Deadline has detailed that Leonard Roberts will recur the role of Criminal Intelligence Division Commander Leo Mason. Apparently, he is the one being considered for the New Assistant Chief's post.

Furthermore, it seems that "Major Crimes" will host more stars when the series returns for season 5B. The magazine also noted that the series will also feature Daniel DiTomasso to play the role of an undercover cop engaged in a white supremacist organization for seven years.

"Major Crimes" season 5 aired its midseason finale on Sept. 19. It was only now that TNT has announced the show's return date. The midseason finale featured a high-profile crime which was investigated on by a special unit of Los Angeles Police Department detectives. The roster of the regular cast includes Mary McDonnell, Tony Denison, G.W. Bailey, Raymond Cruz, Kearran Giovanni, Michael Paul Chan, Graham Patrick Martin, Phillip P. Keene and Jonathan Del Arco.

"Major Crimes" season 5B will premiere on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, at 9 p.m. on TNT.
