'Sugar Mountain' Movie About Faking One's Disappearance; Considered All Over The Place Because Of Its Lead Actors

Several problems may make one wish to disappear to completely forget about the rigors of life. This feeling is nothing but normal to most, especially the downtrodden and who are facing so much challenges in life. This is what the movie "Sugar Mountain" attempts to showcase, with exciting twists and turns.

The movie is about a man who is deep in debt. Because of this, he then worked with few important people related to him to fake his disappearance. In an attempt to run away from his problems, this fake disappearance led to even more complications to the already complicated situation.

According to Rotten Tomatoes, deep in debt to a thug, Miles works with his girlfriend Lauren and brother Liam to fake his disappearance because of his debts. He chooses to disappear in the Alaskan wilderness. As the whole town is in the process of finding him, local sheriff begins to suspect foul play.

The movie "Sugar Mountain" then continues Liam struggles to conceal the hoax and in the process exposes a secret that rocks him and Lauren to the core. Because of this, both Liam and Lauren are struggling to be a step ahead of the sadistic thug and the tenacious cops before Miles is gone for good.

The plot is interesting enough. However, it did not sit well with critics. This is proven by 40 percent ranking in the Tomatometer of the site. Only 37 percent also said they liked the movie.

Todd Jorgenson of Cinemalogue.com said that beneath the picturesque snowy Alaskan landscape, there's not much suspense in this hollow thriller. Bruce Demara of Toronto Star, however, thinks that despite a shaky premise, an engaging cast and sinuous storyline make the movie "Sugar Mountain" a moderately diverting adventure.

As added by IMDb, the movie stars Jason Momoa, Cary Elwes, Anna Hutchison, and Drew Roy. They are also joined by Melora Walters, Haley Webb, John Karna, Shane Coffey, and many more. Some reviews may blame the lead actors because of the disappointing review, however, they have played their part. Their hard work has to be given credit.
