Pippa Middleton recently gave birth to her second child in the same hospital where her sister gave birth in the Lindo Wing of St. Mary's Hospital. In a nod to her sister Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, Pippa chooses a baby name that pays tribute to royalty. Kate Middleton also honored royalty when she named her second child.

Pippa Middleton Baby Name Meaning

While Pippa is not exactly royalty, she is connected to the British monarchy through her sister Kate, Prince William's wife, grandson of Queen Elizabeth II. Pippa and her husband, James Matthews, welcomed their second child, a daughter, on March 15 at 4:22 am. Pippa and James are also parents to 2-year-old Arthur.

In a subtle tribute to the British monarch, Pippa named her daughter Grace Elizabeth Jane, Express UK. The child's name is also a nod to her grandmothers. Pippa and Kate's mom is Carole Elizabeth Middleton, while James' mom is Jane Matthews. It is wise to note that the baby's aunt, Kate Middleton's full name is also Catherine Elizabeth Middleton.

Pippa is believed to follow the royal tradition of paying homage to the monarchy through royal baby names. Kate Middleton did the same when she named her only daughter, Charlotte Elizabeth Diana Mountbatten-Windsor. Princess Charlotte's name pays tribute both to the Queen and Prince William's late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.

Royal Great-Grandchildren Pay Tribute to Royal Grandparents

Prince William's cousin, Princess Beatrice's name, is also a tribute to her royal grandmother. Prince Andrew's eldest daughter's full name is Beatrice Elizabeth Mary. With granddaughter Beatrice and great-granddaughter Charlotte honoring Queen Elizabeth II, it only fits for the Queen's husband, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, to have a great-grandson named after him.

With that in mind, Princess Eugenie, Prince Andrew's second child, named her baby boy in honor of her grandfather. On February 9, Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank welcomed a healthy baby boy named August Philip Hawke Brooksbank.

With the ongoing pandemic and COVID-19 restrictions, it may take some time before the baby meets her royal cousins Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

Express UK noted that the meeting with the cousins is possible from March 29, where people can meet with friends and other family members outside or with another household within the rule of six. The guidelines followed is that of Prime Minister Boris Johnson's roadmap to end the lockdown.
