Another Asgardian?
One rumor that is out right now revolves around "Thor: Ragnarok," the third installment of the mythological Asgardian adventure led by Chris Hemsworth. The scoop, shared by Latino Review, says that actress Tessa Thompson ("Creed," "Dear White People") has been cast for "Thor: Ragnarok."
She will reportedly play the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of the Valkyrie known as Brunnhilde, a female character chosen by Thor's father Odin to lead the group of warriors called the "Valkyrior." The title "Valkyrie," however, is only given to a person leading the Valkyrior, so it could be possible that Thompson's Brunnhilde may or may not have that title yet, notes LP. She could also be part of "Avengers: Infinity War" in the future.
Another Love Interest?
Should the rumor prove true, then it would make a great deal of sense because Thor and Brunnhilde have some sort of romantic involvement within the comic canon, notes Cinema Blend. News outlet Deadline even goes on to say that Thompson is cast in "the third installment of the 'Thor' franchise as [Thor's] love interest." Still, this is just a rumor as of now but with reports of Natalie Portman not returning for the role of Thor's human love interest Jane Foster, it could very well be true.
"Thor: Ragnarok" is currently in the works, directed by Taika Waititi and stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Jaimie Alexander, Mark Ruffalo and Lou Ferrigno. It is slated for release Nov. 3, 2017.
