Tom Hiddleston News & Update: Outside Of 'Sherlock,' 'Thor' Actor Wants A Face-Off With Benedict Cumberbatch

BBC "Sherlock" series may not be fated to have Tom Hiddleston as the third Holmes brother but the "Thor" actor reveals that he still wants a face off with Benedict Cumberbatch. Hiddleston was referring to the "Sherlock" star's new film "Dr. Strange," which Cumberbatch is filming currently for the Marvel Universe.

Not The Third Holmes Brother In "Sherlock"

Bustle reports that the "Sherlock" series will not see Hiddleston as the third Holmes brother in Season 4. The "Sherlock" confirmation came from Hiddleston himself. According to Hiddleston, the "Thor" star is unsure of the origins of the stories on his inclusion in "Sherlock." Hiddleston was, however, gracious about being unknowingly lined up for the next "Sherlock" season. Fans need not worry about never seeing Hiddleston and Cumberbatch on screen together. Hiddleston thought of one avenue that he would want to explore to test his mettle against good friend Cumberbatch.

Loki Face-Off With "Dr. Strange"

According to New York Daily News, Hiddleston was completely impressed when he saw the first teaser of "Dr Strange." Interestingly, Cumberbatch consulted with Hiddleston about going into a Marvel universe before the "Sherlock" star signed up for "Dr. Strange."

Providentially, Hiddleston is recurring as the wily Loki in "Thor: Ragnarok," the final instalment in the trilogy for the Norse god of thunder. "In some hypothetical world, I don't quite know when, for Loki and Dr. Strange to share the same frame would be very exciting indeed," Hiddleston said. "Because Benedict Cumberbatch is an old friend, so I would think it would be interesting to see who would get the upper hand."

Surviving "Thor 3" To Fight "Sherlock" Star

If Hiddleston is to get the chance to take a shot at Dr. Strange, Loki has to survive "Thor 3." At the moment, mum's the word on Loki's fate in "Thor 3." Hiddleston is not giving up any information either. According to the "Thor" actor, he knows exactly how many appearances he has to fulfil as Loki but he is not telling. Fans will now have to wait and see of Hiddleston will be able to recur Loki enough times to jump onto future "Dr. Strange" films with Cumberbatch.

Besides the "Sherlock" star, Hiddleston also reportedly would Marvel Studios CEO Kevin Feige to create a rendezvous between Loki and Charlie Cox, who plays "Daredevil." If anything, Hiddleston is an even closer friend with Cox than he is with "Sherlock" star Cumberbatch.
