Much is expected in Russell Westbrook this season after OKC Thunder lost Kevin Durant. Durant joined the super team Golden State Warriors and left the fate of Thunder to Russell. Thankfully, the OKC Thunder point guard chooses to stay. However, per the reports, Thunder is trading Russell if he fails to satisfy them.
When Kevin Durant decided to turn his back from OKC Thunder, all eyes were on Russell Westbrook. Many were wondering if he will do the same but the player remains faithful to Thunder. However, reports have it that the team is not that committed to Westbrook. Per Chatt Sports Net, Thunder is willing to trade the point guard, should he fails to give an impressive performance.
According to Inquisitr, New York Knicks and OKC Thunder are in trade talks involving three of their players. Thunder will send Russell Westbrook to Knicks and receive Derrick Rose and Kristaps Porzingis.
Per the report, this trade would be huge but this is not happening until December as Thunder will still be observing Russell Westbrook's performance. In addition to this, Westbrook signed a $85 million deal for three years with Thunder, which means that the team cannot trade him until Dec. 15.
Should OKC Thunder and New York Knicks push the trade, the two teams will be swapping their veterans. However, since Russell Westbrook's market trade value is higher than Derrick Rose, Thunder will also receive Kristaps Porzingis for the trade.
Russell Westbrook and Derrick Rose were both drafted in 2008. Rose was the first overall draft pick, while Westbrook is fourth. After their eight years in the NBA league, both are achievers.
Russell Westbrook is a five-time NBA All-Star and a two-time NBA All-Star Game MVP. Meanwhile, Derrick Rose was the NBA MVP in 2011 and a three-time NBA All-Star.
Russell Westbrook and Derrick Rose are still yearning for their first NBA championship, will the OKC Thunder and New York Knicks trade help them achieve this? Do you believe that Thunder is trading Rose and that the team will just let him go that easily after losing Kevin Durant? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
