NBA Trade Rumors: OKC Thunder Trading For Kings' Rudy Gay? Gay To Fill Kevin Durant's Previous Position?

A number of teams in the NBA league need an upgrade on their roster for the upcoming NBA season. If LA Lakers lost Kobe Bryant to retirement, OKC Thunder also loses another key player but for a different reason. According to reports, Thunder is looking for ways to fill the void Kevin Durant left the team and they are looking for Sacramento Kings' Rudy Gay to fill the position.

Kevin Durant surprised many when he turned his back from OKC Thunder to join the super team, Golden State Warriors. Even if Durant is skilled and talented enough to lead a team to the finals, he opted to join the Warriors who already had plenty of NBA All-Star, including Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.

While Kevin Durant's inclusion to GSW gives the team higher chances of winning their next NBA title, it crushed OKC Thunder. Thanks to Russell Westbrook's loyalty the Thunder did not face the bitter loss twice.

At the time, OKC Thunder's responsibility is to give Russell Westbrook the best running mate. According to iSports Times, the team wants to acquire Rudy Gay from Sacramento Kings to replace Kevin Durant.

Rudy Gay and Kevin Durant play the same position as small forward. However, it is a stretch to believe that Gay would be enough to fill Durant's contribution in the Thunder.

Although Rudy Gay and Kevin Durant are both skilled in their profession, there is a huge difference. Gay had more experience but Durant had shown and accomplished more.

By looking at their stats, both are still yearning for their first NBA championships. However, Kevin Durant has earned the NBA MVP in 2014 and is a seven-time NBA All-Star.

Kevin Durant also won the NBA All-Star Game MVP in 2012 and is a four-time NBA scoring champion. Yes, Durant excels in what he does that some are concerned that he might overshadow the Splash Brothers, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson by joining the Warriors.

If OKC Thunder believes that Rudy Gay is enough to fill Kevin Durant's position, then Gay has a huge responsibility. Will he be able to take his gameplay to the next level to satisfy the Thunder?

Aside from OKC Thunder, reports have it that Rudy Gay could join Houston Rockets. Rockets could send Trevor Ariza to Sacramento Kings for Gay.

Do you agree that Rudy Gay would be filling a huge position if OKC Thunder takes him to replace Kevin Durant? Is Durant replaceable? Is Gay enough? What do you think of this Thunder-Kings trade? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
