Paris Jackson Opens Up About The Impact Of Netflix Series '13 Reasons Why'

Paris Jackson shares her insights after watching Netflix's hit series, "13 Reason Why." Jackson describes the series as something "extremely triggering," especially for people that are going through tough times.

Mental health officials warned parents and school administrators to prohibit or supervise their teens when watching the series. The series, "13 Reasons Why," depicted the story of 17-year-old student Hanna Baker, who committed suicide after going through bullying and sexual assault. Even though the series highlighted the issue of bullying and sexual assault, mental health care officials objected the idea, as reported in Daily Mail.

Educators, mental health care experts and celebrities have been working their way into raising awareness in regards to the film's content. After attempting to take her own life in 2013, Paris Jackson speaks up about how the film affects her. The graphic suicide scene of the series reportedly triggers PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) and depression, especially for teens who are "in a dark place," according to Jackson.

"This show was an amazing way to get the message across to bullies that they need to stop doing what they are doing, it really did a good job of showing how impactful words and actions can be to other human beings," Jackson said. "You can't just do or say things to people without thinking about how it will affect them."

"But at the same time, it is also an extremely triggering thing to watch," Michael Jackso's only daughter added. "Please only watch this show with caution and keep in mind that it may put you in a dark place. If you are struggling please don't watch it. If you think you can handle it, please, by all means, check it out."

Despite receiving negative feedback, the series makers and the cast are still urging parents and educators to watch it and educate their children regarding bullying, sexual assault and the importance of mental health. CNN cited that suicide is the third cause of death among teenagers and young adults, which makes it important to discuss the issue of suicide among students even more.

came across this online and i'm not sure what the source is but this is really important to spread towards people that are struggling with depression or anxiety, self-harm, and or suicidal thoughts. this show was an amazing way to get the message across to bullies that they need to stop doing what they are doing, it really did a good job of showing how impactful words and actions can be to other human beings. you can't just do or say things to people without thinking about how it will affect them. but at the same time it is also an extremely triggering thing to watch. please only watch this show with caution and keep in mind that it may put you in a dark place. if you are struggling please don't watch it. if you think you can handle it, please by all means check it out.
