Kelly Clarkson Shares Effect of Hearing Issues on Her Son's Development

Kelly Clarkson initially thought that her son, Remington, was deaf because he had problems with speech. Later on, she found out that her four-year-old son's ears were blocked by tons of ear wax.

The 38-year-old singer shared with People that Remy had a speech problem when he was a baby because he had issues with his ears, and they did not know. She and her husband, Brandon Blackstock, found out that there were a ton of ear wax that got clogged up in their son's ears. They even thought that he was deaf because their son speaks like he was underwater.

The "I Dare You" singer said that the problem was simple, but his development was pushed back almost nine months, so they have been working hard with their son's speech, and Remy is continuing with his therapy via Zoom. It is a significant milestone for his parents when Remy is finding out his personality and identity because he has been frustrated for not being able to vocalize his emotions. Clarkson said that apart from their son, they are also frustrated because they could not communicate all the time effectively, so now that Remy is making full sentences and is engaging with them is a blessing to them.

Kelly Clarkson Loves Being a Mom

Kelly Clarkson is a busy woman because she has a music career, a coaching gig on "The Voice, and she even has her talk show, but she said that from all of her jobs, her favorite is being a mom, so she is helping out her fellow mamas. During the company's Month of Mom, she partnered with Carter's to host "ShowHER Love: an upcoming virtual baby shower" for expectant moms amid the coronavirus pandemic because she knows that many baby showers have been canceled due to the outbreak. The "Because of You" singer said that it is a bummer that the expectant moms are missing out on their showers because your family and friends throwing you a party to celebrate is the one thing to look up to during pregnancy.

Kelly Clarkson Social Distancing

Kelly Clarkson shares her social distancing with Blackstock, her daughter River Rose, 6, son Remy, and Blackstock's son Seth, 13, at home in the middle of Montana. She joked that they were smart in bringing along their nanny Allie with them because both parents still have to work.

The singer said that the qualification that is needed for homeschooling is not the level of education that you have but the patience in teaching your children. She said that it is hard to digest the change in schedule because you used to think that when you go home after work, all you have to do is to relax and have fun. She added that the same goes for their kids.

Apart from that, they thought that they would only stay there for some time and did not expect to be there for a longer time so they are only staying in a cabin and it is making them go crazy, but she said that they are still lucky to have not been sick because she knows someone who contracted the virus.
