In a Thursday episode of "Better Together with Maria Menounos," Jamie Lynn Spears shared the heartbreaking details about her daughter, Maddie's accident, when she rode an ATV in 2017.

Jamie Lynn Spears Got Emotional

The 29-year-old actress got emotional as she recalls how things were "not looking good" when her 11-year-old daughter got admitted to the hospital, and a priest was reading Maddie's last rites when her daughter suddenly showed some response.

She said that Maddie was riding on an ATV near her family when she got into a terrible accident. Even though she took "every safety measure that could be taken," she unexpectedly drove into the water.

The country music singer said that they were able to rescue her child when they dove into the water. They thought that they lost her daughter. At that moment, she thought about the worst because she did not want to let her child think that she could not save her.

Thankfully, a firefighter got Maddie's pulse back even though her condition looked grim and had to be airlifted to a nearby hospital. Spears said that her daughter was not responding to anything, so it was not looking good for them, which she described as a "worse case scenario." They asked for a priest to pray for her daughter while inside the intensive care unit.

The priest put oil on her daughter and read the rites when Maddie suddenly sat up and started kicking. Spears recalled that her daughter also started grabbing at all the things which were a sign for them that her daughter was alive.

Spears' Perception as a Parent Changed

Jamie Lynn Spears said that at that moment, "everything changed" for her. She said that she had faced her worst fear, which made her realize that nothing she would face is as horrible as what happened. She also said that God blessed her for bringing back her daughter to life after having lost her.

Adding to that, she said that she does not have the right to make excuses because she has been given the best blessing that anyone could have. She realized that she is not allowed to waste any day complaining or being ungrateful.

Third Anniversary of the Accident

In February, the "Zoey 101" alum celebrated the "miracle anniversary" of the accident by posting on her Instagram account. She wrote a caption that says that she will never forget the "Super Bowl Sunday, which happened on February 5, three years ago, because that was the day when her world had stopped.

She remembered that her Sunday started as a routine of going to church and visiting her family, then suddenly, she had to save her daughter's life. Her world "literally" stopped when she thought that they had lost her daughter. She wrote that she has never spoken so detailed in the past, but what she wants to share is that God has blessed them with a true miracle because not only did Maddie stay with them, but she recovered fully from the accident.

Spears said that she does not want to let the day pass without thanking all the people that have prayed for her daughter, and she wants everyone to know that she is forever grateful for being given the kind of blessing that not everyone is given.

Finally, the star said that every day of her life is filled with gratitude because she knows that there are so many people who would do anything to have their loved ones back, and she is blessed to experience it.
