How to make home-made slime

Pour the glue into a bowl

Squeeze the 8-ounce bottle of Elmer's white school glue into a bowl. Add a food coloring if you or your child wants, then stir until they are well combined. Mix in 1 tablespoon of baking soda into the mixture and then blend well.

Add saline solution

Pour in the 1 ½ tablespoon saline solution and mix them until combined. If you think that the mixture is too sticky, add ½ saline solution to liquefy it, and then add some more until you get the desired consistency. The more saline solution you add, the thicker your slime will be, and the lesser you do, the slimier it will be.

Knead the slime

Just like kneading dough, use your hands and knead the slime until all the ingredients hold together. You will notice that it will be wet and gooey at first, but just continue kneading until everything comes together.

Store slime in a container

If you will not use the slime yet, store them in a container with a lid or a zip lock bag.

Remember to use a placemat when your child is going to play with the slime to prevent sticking them onto tabletops.

Tips to remember when making slime

The recipe can make approximately one cup of slime.

Tie your hair into a ponytail before mixing because slime might stick onto your hair. If that happens, just use coconut oil or olive oil and rub them on the hair and simply comb out the slime.

Use plastic bowls and spoons because they are easier to clean afterward.

If you want to add color to the slime, make sure that you get the shade that you want from the start or before adding the saline solution because you might get uneven color when the solution is thickened by the saline solution.

If you want it slimier, add less saline solution. If you want it thicker, add more saline solution.

For a more personalized slime, you may add glitter, scented oils, or mini styrofoam balls into the mixture.

Use a placemat, trash bag, or a plastic tablecloth when playing slime.
