Barbra Streisand Makes George Floyd's Daughter a Disney Shareholder

Barbra Streisand made Gianna Floyd, George Floyd's six-year-old daughter, a Disney shareholder.

On Saturday, Gianna shared a series of photos and wrote her thanks to Streisand. On one of her photos, there was a certificate and a letter from the singer. The 78-year-old singer also gave Gianna "My Name is Barbra" and "Color Me Barbra," two of her studio albums.

The caption of the photo says that Gianna is thankful to Streisand because she became a stockholder of Disney. Even though Disney shareholders do not get discounts to its theme parks, the return of investments is significant because its shares are doing well over the years.

The CNBC reported that as of February 2020, the investment of $1,000 in Disney a decade ago would be higher than $4,600. It would be a 370 percent total return. No one knows how much shares Streisand gave to the little girl.

Gianna received a full scholarship grant

The six-year-old received a full-ride scholarship to Texas Southern University in Houston a week ago. Its Board of Regents said in a press release on their website about the good news. They wrote that they had approved a fund providing full scholarship to Gianna, Floyd's beloved daughter, if she wishes to attend the University.

The Board said that they want to ensure that Gianna has a secure future. They also wrote that the scholarship was to honor George Floyd's memory "on the day that he is laid to eternal rest."

The chair of the Board of Regents, Albert H. Myres, said how significant a college degree is. He noted that the Board is committed to education and knows that one of the many vital steps to a productive and successful life is a college degree. He also said that they hope to contribute to help her have a smooth journey in life even though it could not replace her dad, George Floyd's, presence.

On Tuesday, the TSU announced that they had issued a resolution to Floyd's family. It is to commemorate his exceptional dedication to life. It read he would be remembered not only as a leader and a mentor but also as a colleague and a friend. He will also be a significant inspiration in changing the world through endless pursuit of justice.

This month, Kanye West created a 529 college savings plan for Gianna to cover her tuition. His representative told People that he contributed a total of $2 million. It is to support the families and legal defenses of Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery.
