Police officer saved 3-week-old baby from choking [brought mom to tears]

Police Officer Cameron Maciejewski saw on Thursday late at night an upset family holding a baby who was not breathing. According to the Facebook post of Sterling Heights Police Department, the officer took the baby in his arms and performed back thrusts until he saved the three-week-old baby.

The department released the tense footage showing Maciejewski trying to clear the infant's airway. After he performed first aid treatment, the baby's airway is cleared, causing the parents to be relieved. The baby's mom collapsed and broke into tears after everything was well.

The Sterling Heights Fire Department brought the child to a hospital for evaluation. The Police Department reviewed the events that were caught through their dashcam video. It explained on their Facebook page how the officer tried to save the infant.

It wrote that Officer Maciejewski calmly took the baby into his arms and performed back thrusts. Upon doing so, the infant coughs up the object of obstruction and finally starts crying.

The department complimented the officer's quick heroic acts. It said that the outcome of the incident could have ended tragically if Maciejewski had not shown calm, quick, and life-saving actions. The department also shared that apart from saving the baby, the officer did an excellent job of consoling the infant's family.

The department then concluded that they strive to give the best service to its citizens, especially at times that matter the most.
