How to Unclog a Toilet Completely: 7 Effective Ways Without Using Plunger

How to unclog a toilet completely seems quite easy, but imagine the water in the toilet suddenly makes a different sound than the normal after you relieve yourself. You realized that what you need is the ever-powerful plunger, however, it was nowhere in sight.

It does not mean that you have to go to the hardware store to purchase the tool. Something somewhere around the house works just as well as the plunger. Read on to find out 7 effective ways to clear the bowl without a plunger.

Dish soap

The slippery consistency of dish soap helps lubricate the clogged pipes so debris would slide down more easily. Pour a half-cup into the toilet and watch the magic. If you do not have it at home, you could also chop small chunks of bar soap then throw them into the bowl.

Hot water

If the dish soap was not successful, you could pour hot water to help move things downward. Place hot bath water into a bucket then pour them into the toilet. Never use boiling water as it could cause the porcelain to crack.

Baking soda and vinegar

Mix one cup of baking soda to two cups of vinegar and pour the mixture into the bowl. Let it fizz for half an hour. If the clog is still there, pour hot water to help the debris slide down.

Epsom salt

Much like the baking soda, Epsom salt also creates a fizz reaction to help break things up. If the salt is not available, you could also use a bath bomb.

DIY drain snake

All you have to do is to unravel a wire coat hanger until it becomes straight. Push one of its ends into the clogged area then prod the debris until it is free. Flush the toilet to say goodbye to that "thing."

Fill the plastic bottle with warm water then place your thumb over the top of the bottle. Wear rubber gloves then fit the top end of the bottle into the toilet outlet at the bottom. Remove your thumb then squeeze the bottle to put pressure down the pipe.

Toilet brush

You could also use a toilet brush to move the clogged item back and forth. Do not use too much force as the brush might damage the toilet.
