Couple Welcomes Twins for Second Time, Says God Has Funny Sense of Humor

A Louisiana couple welcomes the second set of identical twins six years after they had their first set. The mom-of-four says that God has a funny sense of humor.

Shocked and speechless

On September 22, Erin Credo gave birth to their identical twin girls Lola and Allie. Six years ago, she and her husband, Jake Credo, welcomed their first set of identical twin boys, Cooper and Grant. Erin was shocked and speechless upon learning of her second twin pregnancy.

She told The Advocate that she did not know what to say when she had her ultrasound. When she sent the picture to Jake, her husband asked her if that was the boys' ultrasound. She confirmed by saying that they are having twins the second time around.

Jake gasped and then said, "Oh my God." Erin explained that they were both excited about having twins again because they have done it before, and they know how it goes.

How rare is this?

Erin's physician, Dr. Cliff Moore, told TODAY that it is a rare happening. He said that having a second set of identical twins only happens in about one in 111,111 pregnancies. Dr. Moore said that they deliver about 8,000 babies each year at Woman's Hospital. He explained that they see the same instance in about once every 15 years.

The Baton Rouge parents were surprised about their second pregnancy because they struggled to get pregnant before. Erin said that they did not want to go through what they went through in the past, so they did not plan on having more children.

Complications during pregnancy

She noted that she is still in disbelief that she is now a mother-of-four. She did experience some complications this time. The Advocate said that in August, Erin and her family all tested positive with COVID-19. Thankfully, their cases were not severe.

Erin told the newspaper that her biggest concern was the respiratory issues she could has had. She explained that the most frustrating part was having shortness of breath. All she did was to stay in touch with her doctors regularly and informed them of her conditions. Erin felt blessed that she did not have any major issues.

Premature delivery

At 32 weeks and three days gestation, Erin gave birth to their daughters prematurely. Until Tuesday, the twins stayed in the neonatal intensive care unit. The staff only allowed the twin babies to go with their parents after they have gained some weight.

Erin told NBC Local 33 that she had always considered herself blessed with all the beautiful babies she has. However, she also thinks that God has a funny sense of humor. She also said that many people say that God only gives you what you can handle. She is hoping that she has God's back for the next few years.
