Dr. Fauci Celebrates Holiday Without Children for the First Time Since Birth

Dr. Fauci celebrates the holiday without his children for the first time since birth. He urges other Americans to gather small due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

During a recent "The Washington Post's Power Up" interview, the nation's top infectious disease specialist, Dr. Anthony Fauci, shared their plans for the festive season. He said in the newsletter that he would be spending Christmas along with his wife, Christine Grady.

First time to happen since the children's birth

He explained that it is the first time since their children's births that they will not be together over the holidays. The 79-year-old specialist noted that Christmas is a memorable holiday because he was born on Christmas Eve.

However, he said that his three daughters, Megan, Alison, and Jennifer, will not be coming home to be with them. Dr. Fauci noted that while it is painful for them to be away from their children, he said that it is one thing to accept because of this challenging time.

Be careful during the holidays

The father-of-three pleaded for the Americans to be careful during the holidays because the country is experiencing record-number cases of coronavirus. Apart from that, people still get admitted to hospitals.

Dr. Fauci noted that although the pandemic is an unusual situation, he also said it would not last forever. He believes that everyone's lives will be back to normal because manufacturers are not distributing vaccines. He urges that the US citizens keep themselves and their families healthy to celebrate more Christmases in the future.

The US Food and Drug Administration approved the two-dose vaccine for emergency use last Friday. On Monday, they first inoculated Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine to the COVID-19 patients; and a Long Island Jewish Medical Center ICU nurse in New York City received the first vaccine.

It was one of the hospitals that hit the hardest by the pandemic. Soon, millions of patients more would receive Pfizer's vaccine.

A vaccine would be available soon

Dr. Fauci noted that the COVID-19 vaccine would be available by April or May 2021, even before the FDA had approved the vaccine. On November 30, he told Facebook Mark Zuckerberg during an interview about his thoughts on the vaccine.

He said that the country would have taken care of all the priority and general population by the time April comes. He noted that normal, healthy young men or women aged 30 without underlying health conditions could take the vaccine upon entering Walgreens or into a CVS.

Dr. Fauci believes that by April and May, anyone who wants to get vaccinated would get one. Data from "The New York Times" stated that there had been over 17 million COVID-19 cases in the US alone as of Thursday. The number of deaths is already over 307,000.
